We got bunk beds for our two young daughters, so we no longer need the crib, we had converted into a toddler bed. Since it is a drop-side crib, we couldn’t sell it, and it had been used by at least three maybe four kids and needed a new purpose. I wanted to try and grow cucumbers and train them to climb to save some garden space this year.
Last year, my goal for the summer was to learn how to can. I haven’t graduated to pressure cooker canning yet but have done water bath canning of salsa, spaghetti sauce, zucchini relish, and pickles. I have neighbors, family and friends addicted to my canned pickles so hence the need to grow more cucumbers. 🙂 We plan to increase our tomatoes too since the salsa didn’t last very long last year.
So back to the point of this post, using our old crib as trellises for cucumbers. I love to repurpose things, and this one is easy since it doesn’t require any labor to do it! I think I can use the rest and get up to 5 trellises in my garden this way. Happy gardening and upcycling!
